Kā Poupou Reo o Tahu

 

An exciting and innovative te reo Māori professional development opportunity to support teachers to enable Māori students to succeed as Māori.

He ikoa tēnei nā Mātauraka Mahaanui i takoha hei ikoa mō te kaupapa reo nei. Nō Rakihouia rāia tēnei nā kōrero, arā, ko Kā Poupou a Rakihouia, te ikoa mō kā hāpua, kā awa, kā puna o te takutai mai i Te Tai o Mahaanui ki Te Tai o Āraiteuru. Ko tā te ikoa hou nei, he poupou i kā pou reo hai tāwharau, hai tuaiwi mō te tāhuhu, mō te tuanui o tō tātou whare kōrero Māori.

Mātauraka Mahaanui in conjunction with Te Tāhūhū o te Mātauraka are offering an exciting and innovative te reo Māori professional development opportunity to support teachers to enable Māori students to succeed in education as Māori.

For primary and secondary, teacher release for one term will be provided to the successful applicants. ECE providers including kōhaka reo follow a different process.

Learning is a life-long journey from pēpi to kaumātua, and this course offers a unique opportunity for teachers to upskill in Mātauraka Kāi Tahu, and extend their te reo Māori proficiency for use in kura.

We are looking for applicants who have:

 

Through the course you will develop a comprehensive knowledge of Mātauraka Kāi Tahu (pūrākau, mahika kai, noho marae, waiata, place-based pedagogy) and a higher level of proficiency in te reo Māori. Kā Poupou Reo o Tahu course will be run for two separate cohorts throughout 2019. Each will encompass a ten-week intensive block in either term one or three. The successful teachers will also be provided with in-school support for the term following the completion of the intensive block.
